ADMINISTRATIVE
RECORDS DIVISION

The Records Division is responsible for the Uniform Crime Report coding of crime reports, indexing of traffic and non-custody citations into the appropriate computer systems, and the dissemination of criminal justice information to the Courts, District Attorney’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
Additionally, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Records Division is the central repository for all records generated by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office. This includes criminal reports, criminal histories, jail booking information, identification files, and brothel work cards. Furthermore, the Records Division is responsible for the safekeeping, maintenance, and proper dissemination of all the above mentioned records.
Citizens may request a copy of an accident report from the Records Division ($5.00 fee), however, criminal reports may only be released to persons that are involved in the case. Photographs are also available upon request ($5.00 fee).
To request a report, either visit the Sheriff's Office (in Yerington) or your nearest substation (in Dayton, Fernley, or Silver Springs). You can also download the Report Request Form by clicking here.
The Records Division cannot release reports that are currently in the process of prosecution. To obtain a copy of reports actively in the prosecution phase you must contact the District Attorney's Office (or the Juvenile Probation Office if the case involves a juvenile).
