SEARCH & RESCUE

Founded in 1972, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Search & Rescue team (SAR) exists to provide emergency search, rescue, and backcountry medical aid for residents in and visitors to Lyon County, Nevada. SAR also provides emergency aid and assistance in times of natural and technological disasters.
SAR's assistance also extends to a variety of other services as requested by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office, in addition to providing assistance to our neighboring Counties in Nevada as well as to the state of California.
If you're interested in joining the LCSO Search and Rescue team, email them a volunteer request on their website, message them on their Facebook page, or call (775) 848-0252.
VOLUNTEERS IN POLICING (VIP)

The LCSO utilizes our Volunteers in Policing (VIPs) to assist the community by providing non-emergency law enforcement services including traffic control, VIN verifications, and the service of civil papers.
If you're interested in joining the LCSO volunteer program as a VIP, contact Commander Ortiz here.
CHAPLAINCY

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office chaplaincy program exists to minister to members of the sheriff's office and their families, and to attend to the victims (and the families of victims) in crisis situations.
